I have created a tool called Virtual Booking Agent at http://virtualbookingagent.com. If you are a performer, feel free to register there. It's free. The only purpose of this tool is to try to connect venues with performers and generate more concerts.

The way the tool works is you present concerts by providing a link to a web page that describes that concert. You also need to have a web site for your group. Email will go to the venues who are signed up when new concerts and groups are created.

You need to have a picture of your group to upload. Pictures of groups and venues are randomly displayed on the web site.

Right now there are not many venues or groups signed up. As more people start using it, it should be more useful for everyone.

It has a range of about 100 miles so your presence will not be known beyond that radius. You will also not see venues beyond that distance. This way venues in Pittsburgh will not get your concert announcement in Allentown.

It's a new tool so there are many enhancements possible. Feel free to make suggestions.

1. Download the files for the Student tool. The files you need are attached to this post in a zip file. The files contained in the zip file are:

* wstudent.k
* student.k
* metronome.k
* scaletool.k
* alarmclock.mid
* stretching.mid
* brushing teeth.mid

2. Unpack the Student.zip file and place the ".k" files in the lib directory under the directory that you installed Keykit in.

3. Place the MIDI files in the music directory under Keykit7.2g. These are the templates for the exercises. (there will be more in time)

4. Now you need to edit a text file. If you don't know how to do this, there are many tutorials on the web. Just search for "edit text files".

The file you need to edit is under the lib directory and is called 'tools1.lst'.

Add the Student tool to the file called tools1.lst in the lib directory so you will see it in the menu. The line you need to add is as follows:

Student:wstudent

You can put it anywhere in the list. The menu items are displayed in the order they appear in this file. I put it after the line that says Group:wgroup:trackable but you can put it wherever you want.

Running Keykit and Student

5. Run Keykit by clicking on the keykit icon on the desktop. You should see a screen like the one below:
