Music Enriches Your Life

Even though I also have a passion for electrical engineering, I have not found much that can equal the satisfaction that comes from performing a beautiful piece of music. Even better than listening, performing a piece allows you to express yourself to others in ways that are impossible otherwise.

Music is a language. Knowing how to play an instrument gives you the voice for this language. Knowing the language gives you the ability to say more. This is an aural but not a verbal language which can send shivers down your spine and bring tears to your eyes. We hear music all the time but mostly it is in the background. Playing a piece of music puts you deep in the center of it and it fills your awareness.

Playing music also allows you to better appreciate what you hear. It exercises a part of the brain which is too often neglected and I believe helps balance the mind's activity to more than the intellectual and analytical side.
